Hemp’s compounds may play a role in the battle against SARS-CoV-2

There’s a lot of buzz about a new study from Oregon State University that suggests that some of hemp’s compounds may play a role in the battle against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. 

We want to start first by saying that as exciting as this is for hemp and its mighty cannabinoids, it does not mean our products treat, cure or prevent COVID-19.  

As Forbes reported, the in-vitro study led by Richard van Breemen at OSU found that “compounds in cannabis can prevent infection from the virus that causes Covid-19 by blocking its entry into cells.” The compounds that show promise are cannabigerolic acid and cannabidiolic acid, also known as CBGA and CBDA.
